"Stupid. So stupid...I'm so stupid!" Nanashi growled under his breath, furious as he trudged along a small path, his hands busy with his sword and the unconscious grunt from earlier. He had it five minutes, but he couldn't figure out why his chest was squeezing at himself as he walked, or why he knew the Communicator was the reason behind it. Nanashi's eye's widened, and it occurred to him. Dropping the man, Nanashi turned on his heel and sprinted back in the direction he had seen Virginia walk off on, his eye's burning with anger and determination while his sword turned into a gun around his arm, "Won't let you get away." He growled, furiously.

It hurt. Everything was crashing down around Virginia. Her last words to Nanashi... he hadn't wanted to get rid of her, she had been the one to suggest the idea! Her fiery independence... now her leg felt like it was falling off. She opened her mouth to scream for help... for Nanashi... for anyone, but no sound came out. Words were ringing in her head. You want Nanashi to be with you, Virginia! Why did you leave, then, you idiotic girl? Her leg was hurting worse than ever. "Please... someone, help..." she managed to choke out, before the pain took over and everything began to spin, before fading into darkness.

Blank. Nanashi's mind was completely blank as he sprinted forward, jumping over roots and dodging trees as he moved, his eye's blurry as he ran, and his jaw locked. The man ran for only a few minutes, before he caught sight of a mess of pink hair to his left. Nanashi growled and planted his feet down, sliding across the ground as he turned and began running towards his target. As Nanashi ran into the clearing, he finally realized that his arm wasn't rising, and that he was no longer holding his gun, which had been sheathed across his back. Nanashi dropped to his knees, sliding to a stop aside Virginia, and looked over the girl quickly, "Virginia! Wake up, quick! They're comi-" he teared up eye's widened when he suddenly realized what he had just done.
When Nanashi had come back for the girl, he hadn't had any intention to hurt her. He had heard footsteps, the sounds of commands coming and going; Team Eternity had found them. That was when he had dropped the Grunt he had knocked out to rush back for Virginia. Nanashi shook the girl quickly but carefully for a moment longer before he bit his lip. Sliding his arms behind the girl's back and under her legs, he stood, and began sprinting again without looking back as the sound of yelling filled the air, followed quickly by the sound of gunfire, "I won't...will not...ever...let you die!" Nanashi roared to himself as he ran...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ TIME SKIP TO NEXT MORNING~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"All in all, you look fine. It's good that you got here before anything became infected." Came the soft voice of a woman. Nanashi was stood aside an examination table, his hand over a small stitch line that was on his shoulder, and another along his chest where he had been grazed. He had managed to get himself and Virginia to a small city where Team Eternity had not yet reached, and had gotten himself and Virignia treated from what had been inflicted upon themselves, but while Nanashi was walking out of the small examination room into the main room of the Pokemon a enter, he had laid Virginia upstairs in one of the bedrooms, where he hoped she still was as he slowly made his way up the stairs quietly.
Virginia's eyelids fluttered open, her eyes nervously flitting around the room. Her whole body felt numb as she whispered, "Wh-where am I?" The events of the previous day came back to her as she remembered how the world had faded into darkness. A sudden thought of panic pushed itself into her mind as she screamed, "Nanashi!" She had pushed herself upright and was now looking around wildly, "Arashi? Francine? Nanashi?" E-everyone leaves me behind... nobody cares...
Nanashi sighed as he came to a stop in front of the room he had rented for himself and Virginia. He stood at the door for almost a minute, before he suddenly heard shouting behind the door. Nanashi's eye's widened and he opened the door, dashing in and, noticing that Virginia was alone, and okay, calmed down. Closing the door behind him, the man walked to the bed opposite Virginia and looked the girl over, "...How do you feel?" He asked quietly, leaning back against the wall.
"Nanashi..." Virginia mumbled, her voice barely audible. "I... I was so scared... What happened?" Suddenly, her head jerked up and she seemed to recognize Nanashi for the first time. "You... you didn't leave me... I'm so sorry, Nanashi... I didn't mean it..." she mumbled, more to herself than to Nanashi. It was obvious that she was still rather confused due to anesthetics and other drugs that had been used on her to relieve her of her pain. "I..."
"...A lot happened, but it's over now." Nanashi said quietly, bringing his hand up to tiredly comb his fingers through his messy hair, "What matters now is that we're In a safe town, somewhere Team Eternity won't come to...hopefully." Nanashi said. Nanashi pulled his jacket on carefully, hiding his bandaged arm even though he knew Virginia would have seen it by now, "So how do you feel?" He repeated, as it began to dawn on Nanashi just how tired he was.
Virginia caught sight of Nanashi carefully hiding his bandaged arm and her eyes widened. "I'm feeling fine, but what happened to you?" Quickly, she slipped out of the bed, still wearing her traveling clothes. "You really need some rest, Nanashi, you look like you're about to topple over."
Nanashi laughed blandly, "I got shot at by my own." He said, his hand moving to settle on his shoulder that was bandaged up, "Once in the shoulder, two times in the arm. Guess I'm lucky." Nanashi said, "But I can't use my arm...yet, it's too screwed up." Nanashi added, his head lolling to the side and resting on his shoulder, "...I'm sorry...for what I said yesterday...I wasn't thinking..I'm still not thinking..." Nanashi said. Even though Nanashi only seemed tired, his chest, head, and arm were all hurting, for a lot of different reasons. Being shot at by Team Eternity hurt him more than just physically, but he was doing his best to hide it.
Virginia's eyes were soft as she gently wrapped her arms around Nanashi, rocking him back and forth in an almost motherly sort of way. She could tell that he was hurting more than just on the outside; after all, one of her powers dealt with emotion. "I'm so sorry, Nanashi. It's all my fault." she mumbled apologetically. " You really need to rest. Who knows what you've been up to while I was out?"
Nanashi's eye's were wide when Virginia wrapped her arms around him, and he was about to tell her to let go, but before he could, he felt as though a weight was lifting from his heavy shoulders, and he slowly started to become tired. The man's eye's fell heavy as he felt himself leaning into Virginia almost instinctively, "I'm sorry...I'm so sorry Virginia..." He mumbled tiredly, "...It's dark...why am I lost...I don't belong...anywhere..." He said, his eye's finally closing. Nanashi's breathing fell into a rhythm as he fell asleep against Virginia, a troubled look on his face.
Virginia was slightly startled when Nanashi's full weight fell on her and he fell asleep, but she managed to keep her footing and gently ease him onto his bed. Silently, she touched his cheek gently, a wistful smile on her face. "Sweet dreams..." She stood and walked out of the room, closing the door behind her as she headed down the stairs.
