Ten...Nine...'Good job, boy, you do me proud'...Eight...Seven...'Day...please, don't do that again...'...Six...Five...'Dad, where's Mom?'...Four...Three*crack* 'Don't worry, boy, she needed to go anyways, I can't have anyone holding us back, not even h-'...Two...One*crack* 'Day, do what you have to in order to live on, remember our deal!'...Zero*crack* 'Make them pay...make them all pay...''Crack!' Day's eye's shot open at the sound of a baseball bat connecting with a ball. His breathing was heavy, though from his position underneath an old tree, facing away from all the other new students, all of the incoming Fall Transfer Students. The blond haired boy seemed lost for a moment as he looked around, though after another, he seemed to quickly calm down, bringing a hand up from his side to rub the sleep out of his eye's, "I fell asleep again..." The boy murmured, his hand going from his face to fix the cap atop his head, his long hair flattened between his back and the tree behind him. Sighing, Day let his hand fall to his side again and he finally took the time to look in the direction of the many new transfer students that were walking towards the main building of the school, and then to the baseball field below the hill he sat on, a giant lone oak tree at his back. Looking at the activity on the field, Day guessed that the athletes had just started practicing. Sighing, Day looked forward again and stared at the incoming students again and then to the building they were heading towards, "...Welcome to HSYMA..." He said, trailing off again as he leaned his head back again, setting it against the tree as he closed his eye's again, though he made sure to stay awake this time, knowing what waited for him if he were to fall asleep. OOC: Day transfered to the school in the spring time, just so you know. Also, I took the liberty of finding a possible picture of what could be the HSYNA Campus: media.animevice.com/uploads/0/6872/723408-school.jpgTell me if you find something better.

Well, this is the famous HSYMA? I guess it's an interesting place, but it's certainly... not what I expected. As Ari walked silently among the crowd of chattering fall transfers, she sighed, stopping for a moment to look around at her new home. This is boring. When am I going to get a tour of the place? Ari silently flicked a lock of black hair behind her ear as she stepped out of the stream of fall transfers, ignoring the hisses of "What do you think you're doing?"
Ari had never been one to follow rules and today was no different. She wanted to explore the school as soon as possible. Her eyes glittered as she strode purposefully away from the group of fall transfers, heading towards the baseball diamond. It was a hot day, one of the last days of summer, and Ari had barely taken a few steps before she was sweating from the heat. "Tell me this place has a nice big tree or something that I can sit under..." Ari mumbled as she glanced around. It didn't take her long to notice a large oak tree on the top of a gently-sloping hill. Her energy renewed, Ari started towards the tree.
When she finally reached the tree, she found that someone else was already leaning against it, his eyes closed peacefully as if he was deep in thought. Ari took a deep breath before stepping forward and gently tapping the boy on the shoulder. "Um, hi? D-do you mind if I sit here with you for a little bit?" she asked.

Day had been dozing off once more as he was approached by Ari, unknowing of the girl's presence until he felt her tapping on his shoulder. His eye's opening up quickly, Day found himself looking up at a face he already recognized, though only faintly, "...Arrieta Rei, sister of a world renowned celebrity and an ingenious scientist..." Suddenly sighing, he shook his head, "Excuse me," he said apologetically before motioning to the ground beside himself, "Go ahead. I was just about to leave anyways." He said, pulling a few books and folders that had been off to the side towards him; all faceless books with no sign of title nor author. Standing, he glanced at the girl once more, "Welcome to HSYMA, the most glorious school for the magically gifted...I'm sure you'll fit right in." He said, chef ore he began walking off in the direction of the building that the new students were walking into. As he walked off, a symbol was shown off on the back of his school uniform; a blank white circle, which symbolized Day's raking in the school, the lowest ranking class...

Ari's eyes widened as she noticed the symbol on the back of Day's uniform. She had heard that, at HSYMA, students with lower rankings were often treated like slaves by those of higher rankings. Of course, she had never needed to worry about it; she had tested into the highest level of study. Still, she didn't want to be seen like one of the average snotty high-up students, so she darted forward, gently setting her hand on Day's shoulder. "Ummmmm, you really don't need to leave." she mumbled softly, "I'd enjoy your company... though if you want to, you can go..."
She tried to give the boy a smile. "I'm Arietta Rei, Ari for short. What's your name?" she asked.

Stopping, Day sighed, closing his eye's for a moment as he faced away from the girl. Turning around, Day smiled at the girl, "My name is Day Wing, and I'm sorry, but if I don't hurry and get back to the school, I'll be in quite a bit of trouble." He said. Turning again, he once more started off, "You should hurry and get to the school. It's important that you attend the introduction ceremony, as well as take your quiz, else you won't receive your ranking..." He said in monotone. Day quickly made his way to the school and quickly disappeared among the crowd of new students.
Unknown to himself, Day had accidentally left one of the title-less black books under the tree, one filled with sketches of what could have easily been described as ingenious magic algorithm, complex spells, and what seemed to be created spells and magic weapons.

They already tested me. They said that they sensed great potential in me and they came to my house beforehand to do it. They put me in the highest group and gave me a full scholarship. My family was more than happy to get rid of me... Ari was silent as she watched Day walk away. The girl leaned against the trunk of the oak tree, before she realized that Day had left behind a small book.
The girl reached over and picked up the book, glancing at it warily. Curiosity won over and she opened it, flipping through the pages. What she saw shocked her. How would a low-ranking student know these spells? Shaking her confusion away, she headed back towards the main building,

Day kept to himself and was rather quiet as he moved easily by new students, ignoring the occasional attempted jab at his pride, mostly due to his rank. Even though they were new to the school, the new students themselves obviously already found themselves superior. Day ignored them completely, not at all affected by the crude comments as he turned and slipped out of the crowd, making his way through as side door and into a hallway that only a few other students were using As he made his way down the hallway, Day glanced out at the occasional window into the room large room that the new students were going into where they would receive their uniforms and official ranking, as well as get a chance to check out the various clubs that were at the school that they could join. As the blond teen made it to the end of the hall, he took a turn into a door and once more appeared in the large room, though this time not surrounded by the crowd of new students as he walked around aimlessly, looking around.

OOC: Imma timeskip now. Hope you don't mind. ~Two weeks later~ In the past two weeks, Ari had often gone up the hill to sit by the oak tree, sometimes to do her homework and sometimes just to look down at the campus, watching the other students. Despite the fact that she was taking incredibly hard classes, she found it easy to keep up, so she often had a lot of free time on her hands. However, she hadn't seen the mysterious Day since the first day and she hadn't been able to return his book yet. The girl leaned back against the tree, closing her eyes as she slipped her right hand into her pocket, her hand closing into a fist around the small black book. She had been carrying it with her everywhere she went, hoping to see Day and return it to him. She was still confused, though. Why was a low-ranking student carrying around a book with such complex spells. Before long, Ari was dozing off...

Day sighed in frustration as he walked along a small rock-paved path that winded throughout the park like area that had been built in to the school grounds. Two weeks had passed since he had lost his personal notebook, and while he wasn't necessarily worried about the fact that he had lost it, he was worried about anyone finding out that it belonged to him. To any other student of a low rank, it would only seem like a book another would use for studying, but to anyone more talented, what was inside the book would have made sense...
Shaking his head, Day took a quick deep breath as he walked, he didn't want to worry about the details now. As he rounded around a small path, glancing at the large trees on either side of the path and the many leaves that had changed colors, he noticed the small hill with the old oak tree just up ahead, off to the side of the path . Stopping on the path, Day stared at the tree for a few seconds, not seeing the new girl he had met during the opening ceremony sitting in its shade. Deciding to take a break, Day sighed and made his way off the path and towards the tree. As he approached it, he finally caught sight of Ari as he stopped in front of it.
Frowning, Day stared down at the teen for a moment, seeming to study the girl for a moment before he sighed and turned to leave, "Best not bother her..." He said to himself.

Ari's eyes fluttered open as she heard a soft, mumbled phrase from nearby. Blinking the sleep away from her eyes, she looked around warily for the intruder, her eyes widening when she realized that the intruder was Day. "Oh, um..." Ari began, trailing off as she pulled the black book out of her pocket, "I think you left this behind the last time I saw you..."
The girl paused for a moment as she held out the black book. "Excuse me for being rude, but I noticed a lot of very complex spells and such in here. I... don't think someone of a very low ranking would understand everything in here... so, why aren't you at a higher ranking?" she asked, "You don't need to tell if you don't want to..."

Day stopped when he heard Ari's voice from behind. Turning to look at her, he stepped forward when she held out his book, gently taking the object of his interest back from her as he listened to her talk. After she was finished speaking, Day stood over her for a moment, staring down at her, his book held in front of him, before he turned his attention back to the book in his hand and he opened it, scanning through a few pages for moments at a time, before he finally closed the book. Looking back to Ari, Day remained calm as he spoke, "I know that you're new to the school, so please understand," He said, holding the book up as he spoke. "You can't tell anyone about what you saw in this book. In fact, it'd be better if you just forgot you saw anything..." He said, making it sound like a request. Lowering the book again, Day bowed his head to the other teen, "I appreciate you returning it though...thank you." He said, before he once more went to leave the girl again.

Ari folded her arms over her chest as she silently watched Day leave. She was itching with curiosity, but she didn't want to appear rude or nosy. I don't... get him.... I should probably tell someone about what I saw in that book, but he explicitly asked me not to... Taking a deep breath, Ari placed one hand on Day's shoulder. "Can you at least tell me what that book is? There were a lot of spells and such that I've never seen before in there. Did you create them?" she asked.

Stopping once more, Day sighed. Turning to face Ari, Day moved the small book to the pocket of his coat, keeping his hand over it, as if afraid that he might lose it again, "It was the only thing my father left me when he died. Originally...the book only had a few ideas in it, but the algorithm behind those ideas, the possibility of bringing these ideas to reality. That's mine..." He said, catching the girl's eye's, his own with a challenging look to them, "Any other questions..." He said slowly, hoping that if he just told her what she wanted, she would just stop worrying about the book.

Ari was quite surprised by the challenging glint in Day's eyes and she subconsciously took a step backwards, her hand reaching out to touch the trunk of the oak tree behind her. She sighed softly, mumbling, "Well, I guess I should stop being such a nosy brat; you probably think of all of us high-ranking students as nosy brats." The girl turned away, her gaze focusing on something in the distance. Still not looking at day, she murmured, "Answer me one last question, though. You're not like all the other low-ranking students, are you? You screwed up your test on purpose or something, didn't you?"

Day was quiet as he listened to the other teen, his eye's loosing their dangerous glint when she looked away from him. At her other question, his frown lessened, and he seemed more confused rather than angered, "Screwed it up?" He repeated, staring at her for a moment before he shook his head and turned away from her, "What's with you people...Just because I'm unranked doesn't mean I'm stupid..." He said, an angered tint in his words as he started walking away again.

"That's not what I meant..." Ari began, her words trailing off into the background as she heard Day's retreating footsteps. With a slightly annoyed sigh, the girl sunk to the ground, producing a small notebook and a ballpoint pen from her pocket as she stared at Day's back. What did I do wrong this time? I was saying that he was smart! I was asking if he messed up his test on purpose! Someone as smart as the person who created all of those spells would have been able to get into the highest-ranking classes without a problem!

Day was quiet as he finally stepped off the grass and back onto the path of the park, not caring to look back in Ari's direction as he turned and started walking in the directions of the school again. As he walked, all of his anger seemed to finally go away, though as it disappeared, confusion replaced it. Day had been generally confused as to why Ari had questioned his ability when it came to the notebook he had and what it contained, true, Day wasn't allowed to take any courses with other students in his rank, for a reason he was never allowed to know, but all of the professors that he always studied with had always told him that what he knew, and what he was being taught, was about as advanced as what the lowest ranking students were all being taught, and while it had disappointed Day at first to know that his skills were only "Sub Par." As his exam proctor had said, he had come to accept the fact that he just wasn't good enough, but after what Ari had said to him... ~~~~~Time Skip: 5 weeks later~~~~~ Ever quiet, Day sighed as he walked around the park just outside the main building, his boots crunching in the snow below him with each step. Over the past few weeks, Day had been absent from the school for the most part, not seen by anyone, but even now, when he was back and moving about a bunch of faces, it seemed that still he went ignored as if he didn't exist. Sighing, Day ignored his frosted breath as he slipped his bare hands into the pockets of his jacket, which definitely wasn't big enough for the freezing temperature nor the falling snow as he slowly made his way along the path.

It had never been easy for Ari to fall asleep at night, but ever since she had found Day's notebook, she hadn't been sleeping much at all at night. Recently, the change between the seasons had made Ari's adaptation to HSYMA even harder, since she had never experienced snow or cold weather growing up in the south. She had already finished all of her homework, despite the fact that most of the other students were still at dinner. It was a good time for Ari to take her walks without anyone to disturb her. As Ari continued walking around the park, she pulled her scarf around her neck more tightly, seeming almost as if she didn't notice the falling snowflakes around her or her snow-frosted eyelashes.
Ari continued to walk, though her eyes narrowed as she heard the soft crunch of a footstep. She backed away instinctively when she recognized Day, remembering her last encounter with him. She had been so encompassed in her thoughts that she hadn't even noticed the boy until she had almost collided with him. "Uh, s-sorry, Day..." she mumbled, moving aside to let the other student pass by.

Having been distracted already, and with his ability to ignore almost anyone he ever encountered, Day's eye's narrowed when he hear Ari's voice, and he looked away from the building to the girl at his side for a moment, the look on his face unreadable as he stared at Ari for a moment, before he looked ahead again and sighed, starting to walk again, 'This girl...' he told himself mentally, there was something about her that always brought his mind back to her, "You really should get inside. It's cold out tonight." He said, almost surprising himself because of what he said, "And you have no reason to apologize..." He said, cutting himself off before he said something he may have come to regr-'These damn thoughts! I don't care what she thinks...' He growled at himself as he attempted to just get away from the girl.
