Ari blinked in surprise at Day's rudeness, before she sighed, turning away to hide the disappointed look on her face. "Well, I'm sorry. I guess I'll just leave you alone, then." she mumbled softly, the excitement that had been in her eyes just moments ago fading away into nothing. Without bothering to give any more explanation, the teen rushed away in the direction Carolyn had gone.
Why is it that everything I do is wrong? I just wanted to figure him out... maybe even be his friend. But, no! I'm not even allowed to do that... Ari's eyes filled with tears as she sped away, trying to put as much distance between herself and Day as possible.

Day remained unmoving as he watched Ari leave. When he heard the emotion in the girl's voice, he felt something tug at him, but he did his best to push it far away. When she finally disappeared, Day turned his attention back to the bag next to him and pulled out a book and an apple. Day was quick to open the book to a page far towards the middle, and, beginning to read, he took a small bite from the apple in his other hand, but, the taste instantly seemed off and his eye's seemed to suddenly go empty, "...Bitter..." He muttered under his breath. ~~~ That same EVENING~~~ Letting out a small sigh as his boots padded silently through the halls of the campus, making his way towards the library, a book on human psychology in hand, the same book he had started the same morning. It hadn't worked out the way he had hoped, and only served to end up frustrating him, putting him in a sour mood early on. After a silent minute of walking, Day finally found himself at the library and he quietly made his way inside, though he faltered for almost a second when he noticed someone out of the corner of his eye. Turning in Ari's direction, Day frowned upon seeing the girl, sitting by herself in the corner of the library. He had given her a hard time earlier, and he knew it was his own fault.
Cursing himself silently, Day slowly made his way over in the girl's direction, Coming to a slow stop when he reached her. Silently, and feeling a fool in the girl's presence.

Ari looked up from her book when she heard footsteps coming towards her and then stop in front of her. Her eyes narrowed when she recognized the face that loomed over her and she felt herself instinctively try to back away. The girl took a deep breath before opening her mouth to speak. "Did you need something?" she asked, her words coming off as harsher than she had intended.
Ari gave her head a quick shake to clear it. She couldn't exactly blame Day. She wouldn't want a petty girl hanging onto her, wanting to "solve" her. She'd assume that she was just being played with. That someone was just going to "solve" her and then throw her away. Maybe even use what was learned to hurt her. But Ari still didn't think Day should've just pushed her away like that. For Ari, it hurt...

Frowning when he heard the tone in Ari's voice, Day finally opened his mouth to say something, before closing it again, "..." Sighing after a moment, he glanced away from the girl for a moment, "I'm sorry..." He said, before turning just barely to look at her, "I shouldn't have spoken the way I did to you...I wasn't paying attention to what I was saying and I hurt you," he said, half honest. "You didn't mean harm, you just wanted to talk." He said, trying to push what the girl had said to him awhile back about wanting to "solve" him, one of the worst things he had ever heard someone say to him in his life.
Shaking his head, Day smiled weakly at the girl, "That's all I wanted to say." He said, before turning to leave.

Confusion filled Ari's mind for a few moments before she quickly stood, her hand snaking out to grab Day's shoulder. "Whoa, whoa, whoa. Not so fast." she ordered, moving so that she could see the other teen's face. "I don't get you. Do you want me to be your friend or do you want me to leave you alone? I can't do both, you know!" she asked, sounding slightly frustrated, "I know I probable worded it badly, but I want to be your friend and I just want to know why you're so closed up all the time."

Frowning slightly when Ari stopped him, Day listened to the girl quietly. When she finished, he stared at her for a moment, a confused expression on his face, before he sighed and rubbed the back of his neck, looking off to the side, "Honestly, I'm not sure what I want..." He said, sounding awkwardly honest. Looking back to her, his eye's seemed a bit distant, "You're nice and all, but really, you shouldn't waste your time on me. You've got a good reputation about you, so it'd be better not to tarnish it." He said, holding his hand's out, "At this school, rank decides everything; what you study, who you hang out with, where you sleep, eat..." He said, not bothering to continue on as he dropped his hand's again to his sides, falling into an awkward silence.

Ari raised an eyebrow. "And you should be the same rank as me, so I don't think hanging out with you would tarnish my reputation in any way.. Don't pretend. I've seen your notebook. Someone of your rank would never be able to understand something as complex as that. Don't think I'm stupid, Day." she replied. "Besides, it's my reputation, so I'll handle any problems regarding it if any do arise. My question is: are you uncomfortable when I am around you? Because if not, I'm going to keep... bothering you. If you are uncomfortable, I'll leave you alone. You don't need to ever see me again."

Standing, a look of clear indecisiveness on his face, Day stared back at Ari, his eye's searching her own for something. After almost a minute of silence, Day sighed and brought his hand up to rub his eye's, suddenly seeming tired as he mumbled something under his breath. Lowering his hand again and letting it drop to his side, he offered the faintest smile, "I suppose I wouldn't...mind, the company," He said, trying his best not to sound too awkward. "I'd like to make up for what I did this morning." He continued, his hand going palm up at his side. "There's a cafe that I enjoy going to every now and then when I'm here. How would you like to join me, tomorrow morning?" He asked, before falling silent. His intentions were just; he hadn't had a good breakfast after what he had done this morning, and he had caused Ari to have had a less than happy day, so this was the least he could do for her.

Ari felt herself smile. "Of course. I'd be honored to." ~Timeskip to Next Morning~ "And where are you headed so bright and early, Ari? And before you ask, yes, I am going to see Anthony. We're working together on a project, if you must know." Carolyn mumbled sleepily as she joined Ari in the hallway. They didn't have classes and both girls knew that Ari tended to sleep in on days like this. "Oh, someone recommended a cafe to me and I thought I'd go and take a look." Ari replied, smiling at her friend. Carolyn smirked. "Not meeting a boy, are you?" she asked. Ari didn't bother replying to that question. "Whatever, I'll see you later, Carolyn." the teen replied, rolling her eyes. A few minutes later, Ari found herself outside the cafe that Day was meeting her at. The teenager took a deep breath. Don't mess up, Ari. With that, the girl pulled open the door to the cafe, smiling as the sound of bells announced her presence.

Day was quiet as he sat at a small booth next to a window, staring out as students worked on magic practice for one of the many classes that were offered at the school. He was dressed simply: a light green coat with a light tan shirt, black pants, and simple shoes unlike the boots he normally wore, looking normal for once.
Hearing the sound of bells as someone entered the cafe, Day's eye's went to the door half-expectantly and he nodded to himself when he found Ari. Not bother to stand, Day simply smiled in her direction and held up his hand, his other wrapped around a small cup of coffe

Ari's eyes slowly locked on Day's and she felt her lips twitch into a tiny smile. The girl quickly walked over to the other teen's table, sitting down across from him. She felt slightly self-conscious as her smile stretched into a wider one. "Uh, good morning, Day. H-how are you?" she asked, looking slightly embarrassed. This feels like a date... it's not a date, is it? No, it's just a friendly... meeting...

Offering a small smile in return after taking a small sip of his coffee, Day glanced from the window back to the girl in front of him, "I'm good. Thank you for asking." He said, somewhat appreciatively. He seemed to be acting stranger than normal, but before he could speak up, another voice entered the conversation.
"So you're the girl that managed to get through blondie here, eh?"
From seemingly nowhere, one of the cafe barista's, a kindly looking girl who seemed to be older than Day and Ari, though not by much, had appeared at the booth, a single menu under her arm as she smiled at Ari sweetly.
"It's very nice to meet another person willing to put up with Day." She said, setting the menu down on the table in front of Ari, "Please take your time. I know Day's in no rush to do anything today." She added.
Day, a slightly irritated, mostly embarrassed look on his face, "Avoided looking at either girl as he tapped his spoon against his coffee cup, gaining the barista's attention, "Caitlyn, if you wouldn't mind..." He said.
The girl, looking back to Day, smiled sweetly again and grabbed his cup, "Of course." She said sweetly, before turning away and and walking back to the area behind the counter.
Day, for the most part, was at a loss for words for the moment, and glanced back outside the window, watching the students once more as they worked.

Ari was feeling extremely awkward and looking down at the table until a voice entered the conversation, surprising Ari. Ari looked up and saw a girl standing by the table. "So, you're the girl that managed to get through Blondie here, eh?" the girl asked. Ari blinked in confusion, but she didn't reply. Day took up the conversation and Ari looked away back at the table.
After Caitlyn left, Ari slowly opened the menu, feeling even more awkward than before. She noticed that Day was looking outside and seeming to feel slightly uncomfortable as well and Ari smiled. "So, uh, who was that?" she mumbled.

Day's mouth seemed to twitch from a straight line to a frown, but he fought it off as he turned to look back at Ari, "That was Caitlyn, she's one of our senior students, and, well, she sort of thinks of herself as my older sister...she's more trouble than anything though. Always trying to protect, help me, it's almost like she doesn't realize that I don't need the he-"
Before he could finish the sentence, Caitlyn was again at the booth, setting down Day's refilled cup, smiling sweetly at him, "Don't bite the hand that feeds you, little brother." She said, emphasizing the last part with an eerie smile.
Day, flushing and looking away again, find a sudden interest in his coffee, went back to watching the students outside while Caitlyn turned to look at Ari again, "Honestly, if it weren't for me, he probably would have starved to death. Allow me to introduce myself since it seems to be the matter at hand. My name is Caitlyn Harp. Perhaps you know me," She said innocently, "I'm pretty well known around the campus dojo." She said, setting her fists on her hips and puffing her chest out, her ego showing before she smiled sweetly at Ari again, "Day lives with me off campus. He's quite the troubling one, if you ask me." She said, winking at the girl before she held her platter in front of her, "So," She said, seeming to have suddenly reset, "Have you decided on anything from the menu?" She asked, awaiting Ari's response patiently while Day tried to ignore her.
